Big Blowback

AT&T for whatever reason decided to not allow outside access to my server on the DSL network at home. So we are currently reengineering the app to be more scalable and work with Amazon's cloud and/or Google's AppEngine.

Stay tuned -- it will rock...

PS: Not to be discouraged I am using the alpha now for months to manage my books and I am having a blast :-)

Back to Beta

We had a big presentation to the team the other day and the product though already useful didn't meet our internal quality criteria. So we are back to closed Beta -- which means you can still get in our closed beta. Public beta is now scheduled for the end of the month.

Coming together

After encouraging results from our ongoing closed beta we are planning to open the public beta up on May 1st. Please stay tuned for the announcement.

We have also started in assembling an advisory committee who knows books and libraries better than we do. If you know of someone who might be interested to join and work with us please let me know by sending an e-mail to info@libridi.com

Recommendation Screen

This week was really exciting for me. Besides the queue (where we pull the status of your books from the San Diego Public Library) I got the reservations to work. Now you can reserve the book you find in one of the previous screens. But that's not enough -- the system will also recommend similar books to you:

What's that for reserving books at your public library. Libridi really rocks. We still have some spots open in our closed beta -- so please sign up.

As you might have suspected the release got pushed further out again -- we are now thinking about mid April.

Login Screen

Every great application let's you log in -- and this is especially true for libridi. After all you want to save the books you find with our search function in your queue.

So check out our Login Screen here:

We are especially proud about it overlaying what you are currently doing -- we still have some work to do (e.g. you might need a "close" button in the top left corner) -- but otherwise it works really great.

Don't forget to sign up for our beta. We are changing the way you will use your public library!!

Almost feature complete - closed beta delayed until mid February

I hoped to get more programming done over X-mas then I actually did and now the lauch of the closed beta got delayed. We notified everybody who signed up but the delay gives you the opportunity to still get in. Look at the previous post to learn how to sign up for libridi's closed beta --

With libridi about 70% feature complete I am starting to showcase some of the features. We are especially proud of the clear and easy to understand design. Here is the search for a book screen:

The search engine uses Amazon's Web Services which means almost any book known to man can be found. The view gives you an image of the title, a short description, and the star rankings.

If you found the book you are looking for just hit "Save" and the system will either reserve it from your library or put it in some "saved" state. For books in the saved state the system will check every day if it got bought by the library and if so reserve it.

Next time we will show you the queue screen --
